ABOUT

StableLab is a governance firm focused on professional delegation, DAO framework design, and product development. We work with various projects, from the ones just starting their journey to decentralization to the most prominent DeFi protocols.

Our systematic framework for DAOs covers governance methodologies, decentralized workforce, implementation, documentation, communication, and community engagement. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, but we provide a framework of principles and tools we have developed throughout our experience.

We scale DAOs sustainably.

EXPERIENCE

We are the leading professional delegate team with a track record across major DeFi protocols, including MakerDAO, Optimism, Aave, 1inch, Balancer, Element, InstaDapp, Hop and more.

We pioneer delegation work through high governance standards, extensive research, hands-on expertise and the consistent use of a code of conduct. Pushing forward web3 and DeFi since 2018, StableLab’s co-founders previously spent 3.5 years at the Maker Foundation.

Governance delegates and roles currently (or previously held) by StableLab.

WHY UNISWAP?

Uniswap is a cornerstone of the DeFi landscape, and we want to ensure that the DAO is ramping up alongside the protocol in a sustainable, innovative, and resilient manner. We currently play a key role as co-lead of the Uniswap Accountability Committee. Naturally, we want to enhance our involvement in shaping the future of the Uniswap DAO by becoming a delegate.

DISCLOSURE

Through our holding company, we have invested in multiple projects to advance growth and governance for them. See the full list here.

We contribute to various protocols’ governance, such as MakerDAO, Optimism, Aave, 1inch, Balancer, and Element. See the full list here.

When applicable, we will disclose potential conflicts of interest in our rationale.

WAIVER OF LIABILITY

By delegating to StableLab, you acknowledge and agree that StableLab participates on a best efforts basis and StableLab will not be liable for any form of damages related to StableLab’s participation in governance.

Deploy Uniswap V3 on Moonbeam (2023)
Voted No
Conflict of Interest: N/A
-Considering Moonbeam already has backed away from its grant promise “the previous $2.5M commitment by the Moonbeam foundation to the Uniswap Grants Program (UGP) has been omitted due to difficult market conditions.” It seems reasonable that the team might back away from its commitment even further. In addition, the chain seems not active enough to require Front end integration

Making Protocol Fees Operational: Initial deployment chain
Voted Polygon
Conflict of Interest: StableLab is Delegate at Optimism
-Considering Uniswap on Polygon has been active for the longest, believe it makes sense to try with Polygon first if it will be proposed

Making Protocol Fees Operational: Asset to be held in the treasury
Voted DAI
Conflict of Interest: StableLab is Growth AVC member at MakerDAO (DAI)
-Considering ETH and UNI are volatile, stablecoin would be preferred and DAI is more censorship resistant than USDC

Making Protocol Fees Operational: Fee options for V3
Voted No Fee
Conflict of Interest: N/A
-We would want to see more studies and research done from risk analysis team first

Temperature Check] Deploy Uniswap v3 on Filecoin Virtual Machine (FVM)
Voted No
Conflict of Interest: StableLab is part of Accountability Committee
-We would generally vote in Abstain but considering FVM integration might do more harm than do as it is very new and unsure about its future, we vote against

ARB Distribution Proposal Poll
Voted Create a UNI-ARB Working Group and Combined Liquidity Incentives
Conflict of Interest: part of proposed UNI-ARB Working Group
-While there’s conflict of interest, we do believe Create a UNI-ARB Working Group would be a way to move forward and also believe Combined Liquidity Incentivation Proposal is worth exploring especially as it’s prepared by professionals in the industry

[Temperature Check] Deploy Friendly Fork of Uniswap V3; ZERO Protocol on Polygon zkEVM
Voted No
-The more I think about it, I realize this is a very one sided deal. Uniswap is a protocol with TVL over 3 billion USD with great reputation and users. Retro on the other hand is much smaller and their market, although they say has increased, is 7 million. And by Uniswap agreeing to such endoresement as friendly fork, there’s a large risk of Zero Protocol using it as promotion for Uniswap is endorsing their protocol. Now of course, there’s a chance that they might become widely successful but the risk is high and the upside for Uniswap is limited. So this deal benefits Zero Protocol much more than they benefit the Uniswap Community

Voting Update
Create a UNI-ARB Grant Program (UAGP) and Protocol Delegate Program
Voted Yes
-We would have voted to abstain if there’s an option. But since there’s not, we vote in support as we believe there should be a group to oversee the grant program to ensure transparency and accountability

Deploy Friendly Fork of Uniswap V3; ZERO Protocol on Polygon zkEVM
Voted No
-Would have abstain if there’s an option, but voting against it as while it has potentials, we believe currently the Uniswap ecosystem is not ready to ensure commitment from Zero is kept.

Update:

Realized one can vote abstain via Tally

We are of opinion that Uniswap should launch on chains that can be greatly beneficial and vibrant and of opinion that FVM is not of them yet.

[Temp Check]: Complete initial funding of the UF
Voted Yes

1.There have been requests for the community to deeply involve more into Uniswap Foundation. We believe the more transparency and accountability, the better it is, but at the same time, trying to micromanage each pieces of the Foundation (for example, each voting deciding whether the foundation should have additional hires for Growth) is counter productive and inefficient.

  1. In fact, there are many areas that DAO at the current set up can not efficiently conduct. Good example would be regarding the following case:

In theory, DAOs can create specific groups for such legal actions. It takes a long time just to set up the proper set up to respond to such lawsuits.

  1. Another big contention is $46.2M over next 2 years, which would be around $23.1M per year. While it seems big (which is a natural response as even $1M is a big amount for most individuals.) However, for MakerDAO, another DeFi leader, the cost is expected to be around $40M just this year. Of course, Maker’s tokenomics is very different, but considering Uniswap Foundation’s request at half’s, it can be considered fair.
