If I’m coming off as defensive, that’s not my intention. I’ve managed large communities online and in person, if anything, big heads are knocking together here because we all don’t know each other well yet.
You can go ahead and look through my resume and work if you feel I’m speaking out of class, I’ve provided my name for exactly that purpose, to remain as transparent as possible.
I completely agree with your lesson learned, if you mean fairness as in: determining a set of rules and ensuring they apply to every member equally.
If you mean fairness as a growing number of people define it; fairness as in not willing to come down hard if things get out of hand for fear of offending someone even if doing so is best for the community, I would have to disagree.
I’ve worked with people of both mindsets before, and I find the first example is much better for community health than the latter.
