Blockchain@Columbia, in conjunction with the Gnosis Team, are proposing to deploy Uniswap V3 to Gnosis Chain. This proposal has already passed both a snapshot and consensus check in April 2022. However, due to the Nomad bridge incident, deployment was put on hold. We believe it is time to reignite this initiative and fulfill the previously shelved proposal of deploying Uniswap V3 on Gnosis Chain.

Overview of Gnosis Chain
Formerly known as the xDai Chain, Gnosis has been in development since 2018 and has continued to build and grow throughout the years. Gnosis includes a beacon chain framework, rollups, and other features that enable faster blocks and epochs, low-cost transactions, and the ability to construct trustless bridges. With many protocols live on Gnosis, there is a vibrant DeFi ecosystem on the chain. A full list of protocols on GC is available at https://gnosischain.world with metrics at Gnosis TVL - DefiLlama. Uniswap deployment on GC is beneficial to both parties and cements Uniswap as a cornerstone bluechip protocol on Gnosis.

Proposal
Deployment of Uniswap V3 on Gnosis Chain has been previously discussed and passed in both a temperature check and a consensus check in April 2022. However, due to the Nomad exploit, discussions were halted. We are proposing to finalize the previously shelved proposal of Uniswap V3 Gnosis deployment with Wormhole and the bridge provider for governance.
Given the urgency of this initiative with the upcoming license expiry, we believe that there is a tradeoff between choosing the most efficient bridge provider and the urgency of the deployment. Wormhole was recently voted to act as the bridge provider for BNB chain deployment and already has the necessary tools to facilitate Gnosis deployment. While there may be a risk to using a single bridge provider, the possible harms are fairly small given that bridging will only be used for governance parameters.
The multi-bridge design that is currently in discussion is expected to be finalized in May with the date likely being much later. We understand that security is a concern, and we are aware that there is an ongoing discussion on using a multi-bridge design. We support altering the multichain deployment design through governance when better designs are available. Due to the time-sensitive nature of multi-chain deployment, we believe that this is the most appropriate course of action.
Blockchain@Columbia is pleased to bring this initiative back to the table and encourages everyone to discuss this proposal further. This is a crucial opportunity to capture Uniswap’s presence on Gnosis Chain before the license expiration date, ensuring that Uniswap’s decentralized governance model stays robust and responsive to the evolving needs of the ecosystem regardless of the underlying chain.
