Thank you @alphagrowth and co-contributors for this thoughtful proposal. On the whole a great initiative and idea, not much to add to what other delegates have already raised at this point. What are your thoughts on marketing outside of crypto twitter/coingecko where incentives seek to entice and onboard new users?
To be able to give further feedback it would be great if you could share a plan for how you propose to structure the program, implementation, KPIs, budget, and all the rest. A pilot/trial program is something we’d be open to assuming the plan is reasonable. Not too worried about evaluation criteria at this point as we’d trust a potential review committee to do a good job, ideally some check on conflict of interests to be considered.
Hey @Avantgarde we appreciate the support. When it comes to strategy beyond crypto-native marketing like Twitter and CoinGecko, leveraging user-generated content (UGC) on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Reels could be highly effective. Financial influencers, educational content creators, and social media accounts that focus on finance or tech would reach a broader audience. Primarily, this will help tap into user bases that are interested in finance/crypto, but unfamiliar with DeFi. This will drive awareness through relatable and engaging content, rather than relying on the black box of web3 KOLs.
The mandate of our growth marketing team is to run experiments across multiple channels, testing various narratives to identify the most effective engagement and conversion rates. The key to this process is attribution: tracking how each experiment performs, quickly cutting what doesn’t work, and focusing on what does. Thanks again for the comment; we’re always open to ideas from the Uniswap community and welcome any suggestions on marketing experiments you’d like to see tested.
Thanks for the reply and great to hear that will be budget with goals.
Also do want to note that when the blackswan event at Compound happened as the team mentioned, Alpha Growth team very quickly helped to resolve issues along with participants such as Open Zeppelin. So do want to give credit for the impressive feat as well.
There have been some amazing points made in this discussion, and we’d like to address the community on where we stand on the topic as well. As many have mentioned, AlphaGrowth made a huge effort to do their due diligence prior to posting this proposal, which goes a long way.
Some concerns we think should be made clear include:
Need for Clear Communication Channels: Establishing open and consistent lines of communication between AlphaGrowth and the Uniswap community to ensure transparency and allow for feedback.
Ensuring Alignment with Community Goals: Confirming that the proposed initiatives align with the broader objectives of the Uniswap ecosystem and benefit the community as a whole while tracking performance and ensuring that these initiatives are achieved.
Long-Term Sustainability Focus: Emphasizing strategies that promote sustainable growth rather than temporary boosts in activity.
Overall, we are in support of this proposal. As more deployments are made, it only makes sense to bring attention to them in order to diversify the pool of participants that receive these rewards and to make an added effort to retain liquidity post incentive termination.
AlphaGrowth has done a great job with this kind of work in the past—directing incentives and attention. Although the scope of this proposal is not as technically involved as their role in directing incentives and attention on Compound was, we believe that their background and attention to detail will pay off in the long run. Additionally, we see a world where marketing efforts such as these could also be beneficial to promote DAO-supported hooks.
It would be nice to set up a streamlined method of clearing acceptable content on a regular cadence to ensure adherence to a predefined content calendar with propoer language.
Hey @pennblockchain thanks for the post. You raise some great points. A few followup questions on our end:
When it comes to comms, we want to make sure we maintain transparency without diluting our messaging with an abundance of information. What kind of communications would you like see, and through what channel?
Something that helps convey the following would be best in our opinion:
In our eyes, any communication coming from a DAO sponsored channel should align with some general, pre-approved rubric. Then it could make sense to share the proposed content prior to initiating a campaign and a weekly or biweekly newsletter style post with updates on past and upcoming content to ensure the rubric is being followed. This would also be a great opportunity to share KPIs and their change over time to help measure success.
Hope this helps! Open to hearing other suggestions that could help with communication while reducing overhead.
We support this proposal. By establishing a committee like this, we can effectively communicate with projects interested in collaborating with Uniswap. Through this, we can accurately convey the initiatives we are undertaking to users, which we believe will positively impact Uniswap’s market share.
We have one comment:
Concerning the KPIs, we propose including metrics that can measure the project’s achievements, not just direct numerical values like TVL. Fluctuations in TVL are not only caused by the committee’s actions but are also influenced by market conditions at the time. Because of this, the committee’s efforts might be overestimated, or if market conditions are poor, they might be underestimated, potentially hindering the continuation of effective initiatives.
Even though similar initiatives have been successful in other projects, we believe it would be better to formalize this project after achieving initial KPIs in a pilot program. Implementing A/B testing or equivalent system for experiments could help determine the effectiveness of the committee’s actions before fully committing resources.
We look forward to contributing to Uniswap through the collaboration of various people. If there is anything we can assist with, we would like to support as much as possible!
There are many ways to grow a DAO, and the Co-Marketing Partners Program is a promising approach to enhance Uniswap’s visibility.
While the initiative may or may not succeed, it’s crucial to experiment with ways to strengthen Uniswap’s brand, image, and reach to maintain and attract new users.
This is especially important as competition increases and Uniswap can’t rely on its first-mover advantage indefinitely. With the launch of Uniswap v4, educating users about its features is essential. Since Uniswap v4 functions more like a platform, establishing a partnership incentive program is a solid strategy.
As a DeFi creator and co-founder of a DeFi creator studio, I am slightly biased. However, if the DAO proceeds with the proposal, I would love to partner in the education content campaign.
