Introduction

We’re excited to introduce SafeNotes, a transparency platform for DAO spending.

SafeNotes lets teams annotate their multisig transactions with descriptions and categories, turning ambiguous blockchain data into public, clear, understandable records for all to see.

The tool was initially built by @limes for the ENS DAO, which uses it to provide a transparent record of working group transactions for its community. Following in ENS’s footsteps, the UAC worked with @limes to bring SafeNotes to the Uniswap DAO.

SafeNotes in Uniswap DAO

As UAC, we have adopted SafeNotes to provide the Uniswap community with more transparency and easier access to all transactions managed by the UAC. Through SafeNotes, the purpose of each transaction is documented, making it easier for stakeholders to get clear, real-time visibility into DAO operations.

SafeNotes tracks the activities of two addresses, one used for payments (uac.eth) and the other for incentives (incentives.uac.eth). Each transaction is assigned to a relevant category and clarified by a dedicated description.

With the adoption of SafeNotes, we aim to position Uniswap DAO at the forefront of DAO transparency and we hope Uniswap DAO serves as an example to other DAOs on the importance of transparency and accountability.

Huge thanks to the UAC and the broader Uniswap community for supporting SafeNotes and leading by example when it comes to transparency and accountability.

SafeNotes was born out of a simple idea: if DAOs want to scale trustlessly, they need tools that make their actions legible—not just to onchain sleuths, but to anyone. Blockchain data is open by default, but that doesn’t make it understandable. With SafeNotes, we aim to bridge that gap by turning raw transaction data into clear, contextual records that anyone can follow.

Working with the Uniswap Accountability Committee has been great. Their commitment to clarity, accessibility, and good governance is exactly what this space needs more of. We’re excited for this to set a new standard not just within Uniswap DAO, but across all DAOs and look forward to addressing more DAO needs.
