December 2024 Voting Updates
[Non-consitutional] User Research: Why build on Arbitrum?
Vote: Against
Type: Snapshot
User research is important, but the format and cost of the program presented in the proposal was, in our opinion, unattractive. Although the ARDC has numerous objectives and tasks to meet, it still seems plausible for them to conduct this sort of research. This research can also be effectively blended into alternative initiatives. For example, existing grant programs can include surveys periodically to help track the sentiment of the grantees. Same can be done with any venture initiatives that Arbitrum runs. The struggle would then be understanding what builders outside of Arb feel about the ecosystem. Since there are so many chains now, a better method may be to focus on language or VM. Move, for example, instead of just Aptos or Sui. Lastly, the cost seems a bit high, and we are not especially keen on the incentive-based compensation.
Designing and operating the reporting and information function
Vote: Against
Type: Snapshot
Reporting is a critical function for any organization, especially for one with as much entropy as Arbitrum. Numerous programs simultaneously take place in a decentralized manner, so a method for consolidating and tracking those initiatives is compelling. However, the structure of this proposal is in and of itself a bit confusing. It should be a lot simpler. As opposed to numerous moving parts that require numerous hours per week to upkeep, it would be advisable to establish a reporting committee that checks in on the various programs and working groups in the ecosystem, consolidating their updates at the end of every month. And all that can be summed up collectively in a end of year report.
Arbitrum D.A.O. Domain Allocator Offerings) Grant Program - Season 3
Vote: Renew with 5 domains
Type: Snapshot
We’ve been able to observe the outcomes that the Questbook program has brought to Arb via the first two seasons, and based on that track record, this renewal is welcome. Orbit as the fifth domain makes sense to us as it’s a critical aspect for the DAO to help facilitate growth for going forward.
[NON-CONSTITUTIONAL] Arbitrum Onboarding V2: A Governance Bootcamp
Vote: For
Type: Snapshot
Onboarding to DAOs can be a difficult process. The more time you spend in a time, the more disproportionate your advantage becomes relative to new entrants. Presence of legacy contributors is favorable from a standpoint of maturity and understanding, but it can also lead to closed-mindedness. Therefore, programs like this are welcome.
ARDC (V2) Supervisory Council Election
Vote: 33.33% for Frisson (Comm Role), 33.33% for Jameskbh (Comm Role), 33.33% for Entropy Adv. + Tamara (Op Role)
Type: Snapshot
Entropy has been a very strong addition to the Arbitrum ecosystem, and teaming up with Tamara, they should collectively be strong representatives on the operations side. We also voted for Frisson and James because of their previous experiences in leading growth initiatives for Tally and KPK respectively.
ARDC (V2) Risk Election
Vote: 50% DeFiSafety, 50% Nethermind
Type: Snapshot
Due to our history in collaborating with both of the above firms, we are confident in voting for their assignment to the Risk WG.
ARDC (V2) Security Election
Vote: 100% OpenZeppelin
Type: Snapshot
We are familiar with the work that OpenZeppelin has done with DAOs, for example, our members worked closely with Michael and co regarding the response to the Compound governance attack over the past few months.
ARDC (V2) Research Election
Vote: 100% Blockworks
Type: Snapshot
Blockworks has continually proven to provide value through their various verticals to the whole of the blockchain space, and in particular with Arbitrum, we appreciated their work with ARDCv1.
Partner with ETH Bucharest 2025
Vote: FOR, without POAP - $55,800
Type: Snapshot
We think this proposal and conference costs are very reasonable, however, we don’t care much for the POAP and so are not including it here in our preference.
OpCo – A DAO-adjacent Entity for Strategy Execution
Vote: FOR
Type: Snapshot
We are fans of this initial signal and vision for the OpCo. There are still a few questions to be worked out but for now, we are in favor of this vision and vote as it improves a lot of operational efficiencies for the DAO.
Unifying Arbitrum’s Mission, Vision, Purpose (MVP)
Vote: FOR
Type: Snapshot
In line with the scope reductions and general updates to the MVP over the last few weeks. It is at a point where we think all delegates and community members should follow and abide by and think this is at a good spot.
November Delegate Incentive Program
The UADP received November delegate incentive from the Arbitrum DAO’s new Delegate Incentive Program this month.
A total of 7,319.76 ARB was sent to our multisig (0x8326D18edfC50B4335113C33b25116ec268FF3fE). This amount is based on a couple of criteria: snapshot participation, onchain participation, communicating rationale behind the votes, and productive forum conversation, based on the quality of the feedback provided on the forums.
We are splitting these tokens in the following manner:
- 50% of the ARB stays with the UADP multisig for the sake of increasing the longevity of this program with the goal of one day self being self funded.
- 50% is split evenly among the two UADP contributors
